Experience Algarve Coast

An incredible getaway to the Algarve Coast.

Although the beaches of the Algarve are its main tourist attraction (with 200 km of coastline and about 90 blue flag beaches), its historic towns and cities, its countryside, caves and mountain ranges are also part of the interesting places to see in the Algarve.

Albufeira is one of the most visited places in the Algarve. One of the reasons is that it is located right in the center of Portugal's southern coast, with a number of attractions within walking distance. Although today it has become one of the most popular places to visit in the Algarve, Albufeira, 50 years ago, was a quiet fishing village hidden between sandstone cliffs. There are still some of its small houses with white facades. However, there is hardly any trace of the ancient fortress, built by the Romans and reinforced by the Arabs, which protected the area more than a millennium ago.

Praia da Rocha is one of the liveliest places to visit in the Algarve. In reality, it is the beach of the city of Portimão, which is located just 2 km from Praia da Rocha. It is a 1.5 km long sandy area, whose back is guarded by a natural barrier of cliffs and one of its flanks by the Santa Catalina Fortress, built by the Portuguese defenders in the 17th century.

Lagos city center has a great medieval feel, with castle walls, pretty churches and seaside defensive forts. It is one of those places that encourages you to travel back in time when you visit them, to find out what life would have been like there in its moment of splendor. However, there are also other attractions for those who do not love history so much. The coastline near Lagos is of extraordinary beauty. Cliffs, caves and grottoes are nestled behind beaches of golden sand and crystal clear waters. Lagos has it all.
