Description

One of the first things to see in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at 828 meters, which on clear days can be seen from over a hundred kilometers away. At night, it serves as a beacon for sailors. Located in the heart of Dubai’s commercial district, it is surrounded by a large park and lake, as well as shopping malls and numerous restaurants. The Burj Khalifa and other high-rise skyscrapers shape the iconic skyline of Dubai.

The 828 meters are divided into 163 floors with an observation deck at 587 meters. Above that, the building is uninhabited and ends in a large antenna. Right below the observation deck is the highest observation point in the world: The New Deck, at 555 meters.

Since you're in the central area, don't miss the Dubai Fountain, located on the lake in front of the Burj Khalifa. It also holds the top spot in programmed and choreographed fountain systems, with water reaching heights of 150 meters.

You can rent boats to view the show from the lake during the various daily performances: one around 1 PM and some starting at dusk, when the lighting adds even more flair to the spectacle.

Another must-see in Dubai is the Burj Al Arab, the most luxurious hotel in the world, shaped like a sailboat and located on a small artificial island 270 meters off the Umm Suqeim 3 district.

Many of Dubai’s neighborhoods are built along the coast. In some cases, just five kilometers west of the city, buildings give way to the desert, which expands as you move south or east of the emirate.

To experience this, it is best to take a 4×4 excursion to completely deserted areas filled with dunes, which are fortunately well connected by road to the coast.

Before the mouth of Dubai Creek in its northern area, you will find a zone full of souks. Among the most notable is the Dubai Gold Souk, an enclosed market complex with 250 shops selling 18 and 22-carat gold.

Just west of Dubai Creek is Al Habtoor City, a tourist complex with hotels, restaurants, a spa, and a vast theater created for the resident show: La Perle, created by Franco Dragone. The stage features a pool, actors flying overhead, and the seating has a 270º design to provide spectators with almost panoramic views. The show, with a fantastic theme, is a spectacular performance in the purest Cirque du Soleil style. You can’t miss it!!!
