Description

One of the first things to see in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at 828 meters, visible from over a hundred kilometers away on clear days. At night, it serves as a beacon for sailors. It is located in the central district of Dubai, in the most commercial area, and features a large park, a lake, shopping malls, and numerous restaurants. The Burj Khalifa and other high-rise skyscrapers form Dubai's iconic skyline.

The 828 meters are divided into 163 floors, with an observation deck at 587 meters. Above that, the rest of the building is unoccupied and ends in a large antenna. Just below the observation deck is the highest observation point in the world: The New Deck, at 555 meters.

While in the central area, you should not miss visiting the Dubai Fountain, located on the lake in front of the Burj Khalifa. It also holds the top spot for programmed and choreographed fountains, with water reaching heights of 150 meters.

You can rent boats to view the show from the lake during the various daily showtimes: one around 1 PM and others from the evening, when the lighting adds extra sparkle to the performance.

Another must-see attraction in Dubai is the Burj Al Arab, the most luxurious hotel in the world, shaped like a sail and situated on a small artificial island 270 meters from the Umm Suqeim 3 district.

Much of Dubai's neighborhoods are built along the coast. In some cases, just five kilometers west of the bustling city, the buildings disappear to give way to the desert, which expands as you move south or east from the emirate.

To explore it, the best way is to take a 4x4 excursion to completely deserted areas full of dunes, fortunately well connected by road to the coast. Before the mouth of Dubai Creek in its northern area, there is a zone full of souks. Among the highlights is the Dubai Gold Souk, a covered market with 250 stores selling 18 and 22-carat gold. Don’t miss it!
